Exotic Animals
Exotic Animals Pictured are from The Idle Hour Ranch situated just west of Troy, Ohio.
This page is graphic heavy it shouldn't take too long to load but if it does I'm sorry. Please be patient with it, I don't want you to miss seeing the smiling faces on these wonderful animals.
Patagonian CavyCavies are related to guinea pigs. They have long hind legs like a rabbit and are fast runners. Cute aren't they?

Kangaroos and Wallaby Kangaroos and wallaby are marsupials. The Wallaby is smaller than the kangaroo.
My granddaughter holding the wallaby. Isn't it cute. The kangaroo (brown one) is so sweet looking. Holding an exotic animal in your hands is a lifetime memory.
Brittany who helps run the ranch holding the kangaroo when it first jumped into the bag. The Kangoroo eating some wheat bread.
Sam The Giraffe
I love this picture of the camel and giraffe. Sort of reminds me of a directional sign, "which way should we go?" On the observation deck you can get eye level with Sam. What a treat to be able to see him up close like that.
I'm not sure if Sam was trying to eat my husbands hair or just checking to see what he was doing! You can see how tall the observation deck is.
You can't go to a zoo and get pictures of an exotic animal like Sam the giraffe this close up. Notice Sam's teeth in the picture on the left?
More Animals
Some of the animals are used for live nativity scenes and Easter programs and aren't as exotic as cavies or giraffes but they are so fun to see.
Brian pictured here runs the ranch with his wife Michelle and their daughter Brittany. We happened to be there at the time one of the calves needed to be fed. This camel is smiling for us! Actually she's wanting to eat the camera but just look at that face, isn't it adorable?
Zebu are also known as humped cattle. All the animals have a sign posted with them that tell about their origin, foods they eat and their natural habitats.
The otters were so cute. We didn't get to see them playing but they have a nice swimming area with plenty of toys to toss around. They came right out of the water to see us. The lama came right up to greet us, smiled for the camera and then went back over to the barn. I love the teeth.
The bat isn't one of their exotics, It was a bonus to see it. This little fellow just happened to be sleeping on a post when we were there. This bovine must have enjoyed the milk as he's licking his chops so none is wasted. What a cute picture.
The priarie dog came right over and started to climb up the fencing to greet us. He's adorable. The skunk was hiding when we first went over to look but then decided to come out and say hello. It's descented!
The great thing about the Idle Hour Ranch is that you could get close up to the exotic animals. The animals were all friendly and came right up to greet you. Brian said that all the animals were bottle fed when they were babies and are used to being around humans. We really enjoyed the ranch visit and it was well worth spending an Idle Hour with them.
