Perennials In Your Garden

Trees and shrubs are the backbone of a garden and used sparingly. Perennials make up the mass or body of a garden.

Black Eyed Susan is one of the most recognized and popular garden plants. It is easy to grow!
Orange Tiger Lily is also easy to grow and can be the star of your garden.

What Is It?

A garden plant that has a root system that lives through winter. Foilage dies to the ground (herbaceous) in the fall. The roots are still living and will regrow the foilage the following year.
Not all perennials are herbaceous, some are evergreen and do not die back to the ground.

How to Use Them

The plants and flowers come in almost every color, shape and size with more being developed every year.
What can you do with perennials in your garden?

Anything You Dream Of

So many choices, so many uses yet so little time.

Garden Care

Fertilizing can help keep your plants healthy.
There are some plants that love getting a boost and others that don't. Knowing which ones to feed can save you time and money.

Deadheading a plant can help keep them looking good.
Some plants will reward you with a second and sometimes third flush of blooms when you deadhead them.

Some plants will need to be divided every 3-5 years.
If your plant looks crowded and doesn't seem to be blooming as much as it used to it might be time to divide it.

The Stars

There are so many plants varieties to choose from. Here are some that have proven themselves year after year to be star performers.

Hostas provide the biggest bang for your buck.
Peonies have been spreading joy for generations.
Daylilies are delightful and easy to grow.
Hibiscus: The confusion ends here.
